It’s been a busy month for us here at Iconic. We’ve been prioritizing some big plugin updates and some highly requested features from you.

As always, if you’d like to request future plugin updates and/or changes, you can submit a feature request. We review these regularly and the ones with the most votes, go to the top of the list.

Updates to WooCommerce Attribute Swatches

We just released version 1.3.4 of WooCommerce Attribute Swatches, and with it comes a couple of key updates:

Attribute Swatches and Currency Switcher

WooCommerce Attribute Swatches can now be used with WooCommerce Currency Switcher (WOOCS).

This means your attribute fees will now change to the currency that’s selected by the user on your site.

Swatch groups with Linked Variations

We’ve also added an update that allows you to create swatch groups when Attribute Swatches is used together with WooCommerce Linked Variations.

If you have a number of different swatches, swatch groups can help you group together similar attributes.

For example, say you have one set of matte colors and another set of glossy colors. Groups let you divide them to help your shoppers see the difference on the product page.

Of course, that’s not all. We’ve made a number of other fixes and updates. You can read all of these in the WooCommerce Attribute Swatches Changelog.

If you’re already using WooCommerce Attribute Swatches then you can update from the WordPress Dashboard as usual.

Updates to WooThumbs for WooCommerce

We just released version 4.8.8 of WooThumbs for WooCommerce, and with it comes a few key updates:

Parent product’s image gallery for variations

When a customer selects a product attribute on the product page (with WooThumbs installed), the image gallery changes to show the individual variation’s images only.

If you want to keep the parent product image gallery for variations instead, you can already do so with WooThumbs for WooCommerce.

However, up until now, you’ve needed to do this on a per-product basis. With the latest WooThumbs update, you can set this site-wide and refine it for each individual product.

Our guide on using the parent product’s image gallery will show you how.

Maintain the slide index

If a customer is sliding through the images of a blue t-shirt in your product gallery (using WooThumbs), they might land on the second image and decide to change the blue t-shirt, to a red one.

Usually, they would be shown the first image in the gallery by default. However, if you’d like the slide index to remain in place and show the customer the second image instead, you can now do so with WooThumbs for WooCommerce.

In this update, Flux has also been adapted to be compatible with Klarna. This means your customers can shop now and pay later, all within your existing clean checkout with Flux.

Search in dropdown fields

Previously, if a customer needed to select their country/region in Flux, they’d need to scroll to find it. In this update, we’ve added a search feature for all dropdown fields.

This means, instead of scrolling, customers can simply type in the selection they want – saving them even more time.

Updates to Custom Fields for Variations

We just released version 1.2.5 of Custom Fields for Variations, and with it comes a new update:

Default value for custom fields

When creating custom fields for your product variations, you might find it frustrating to have to type and re-type the same field content for each product.

With the latest update of Custom Fields for Variations, you can add a default value to the fields you create. This means, if you have information that repeats itself across many different products, you’ll save yourself a ton of time.

When entering the custom field information on a per-product basis, it will override the default text you’ve set – allowing you the freedom to change it as you see fit.

Backorder linked variations are visible

Previously, if you had ‘Hide out of stock items from the catalog’ checked in your WooCommerce settings (WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Out of stock visibility), even if your linked variation product was on backorder, the swatch would grey out.

Now, if you have your stock status set to on backorder, swatches won’t grey out and customers can order as usual.
