Hey, I’m Dave, the Product Manager here at Iconic.
I’ve been with Iconic since November 2021 after spending over ten years in the WordPress agency world. I worked as a lead developer for several of our plugins, most notably WooThumbs.
I proudly stepped into the role of Product Manager in November 2023, replacing Iconic’s founder, James Kemp, who left to work on the WooCommerce team.
Starting this month, I’ll be sharing what the Iconic team has been up to in the previous month.
Which brings me to the topic of this development blog: updates!
As always, if you’d like to request future plugin updates and/or changes, you can submit a feature request.
Updates to all Iconic plugins
In the past few months, a lot of work has been done behind the scenes to build a roadmap for the future across all our plugins.
This has involved reviewing every feature request for every product (phew!) and looking at our own ideas, too. This was done so we could identify ways to deliver the most requested features/improvements.
That process was completed towards the end of May! So, we will have more information on our plans, which we hope to share soon.
WooCommerce core blocks and editor updates
In May, we wrapped up several months of work to make sure our plugins work with WordPress and WooCommerce core blocks. As well as the new WooCommerce product editor, which is currently in beta.
This work has been necessary given that the future of WordPress and WooCommerce is based on the block editor. The team learned a lot about integrating our plugins, and we will continue this work where necessary in the future.
At the time of writing, we’ve released these updates for most of our plugins, with a few releases due in June.
Next, we move on to some plugin-specific updates, starting with Flux Checkout for WooCommerce.
Flux Checkout for WooCommerce updates
We recently improved Flux Checkout Elements to make it easier for customers to build their elements using Divi and Elementor.
We’ll continue to work on this feature to ease any pain points and maximize the compatibility between Elements and other page builders.
We’ve also had a major maintenance push to resolve some small issues affecting the checkout experience. Particularly those related to third-party checkout plugins and payment gateways.
WooCommerce Delivery Slots Updates
In May, we added support to WooCommerce Delivery Slots for using 24:00 to represent the end of the day when setting up time slots. This avoids confusion and potentially allows orders to be placed after closing time.

Several issues related to compatibility with the Table Rate Shipping plugin introduced in the 2.0.0 release were also resolved.
WooThumbs for WooCommerce updates
For WooThumbs for WooCommerce, we released a base level of compatibility with WP Rocket in the autumn of 2023. However, in May, we introduced full compatibility with WP Rockets’ File Optimisation settings. Such as Delay JS Execution, which many customers requested.
This update has undergone a lot of testing, but we’d love to hear from customers using WP Rocket if there are any edge-case issues that we need to investigate.
If that’s you, get in touch with us using our contact form.
WooCommerce Attribute Swatches updates
Fees are now available when viewing the cart/mini-cart in WooCommerce Attribute Swatches. This update gives your customers a clear view of the costs associated with their orders.

A new experimental feature to cache product swatch HTML has been added. We may add this as a plugin setting in the future. The goal is to improve performance for products with many attributes and terms.
This can be activated using the following snippet: add_filter( 'iconic_was_cache_attribute_html', '__return_true' );
We would love to hear feedback from customers using this experimental feature so that we can improve it or resolve any issues they are experiencing. Again, get in touch with us to let us know.
WooCommerce Custom Fields for Variations updates
In May, we completed work to introduce a long-awaited and highly requested feature for Custom Fields for Variations. The ability to reorder the fields in your variation groups!
This reordering takes effect in the admin area and on the product pages. This update will be released early in June.
Let me know what you think of this month’s updates and what you’d like to see in future updates in the comments below.
